Egyptian Electric has an opening for a Journeyman Lineman or Apprentice Lineman. The position requires a H.S. diploma or equivalent and a CDL. Job Requirements

1. Perform construction and maintenance activities including: climbing and working from poles and ladders.

2. Load, unload, handle, frame, set and remove poles and/or equipment.

3. Dig and backfill excavations, i. e., poles, anchors, underground conduit, secondary/primary conductor and vaults.

4. Handle tools and materials such as: wire, cable and line hardware. Ensure that tools and equipment are properly used and in good working order. Repair tools as needed, i. e., replacing handles, sharpening and cleaning.

5. Operate portable power tools, generators, fans and pumps.

6. Set and remove barricades, flags, signs and flares. Direct pedestrian and vehicular traffic.

7. Learn the cooperative’s line numbering/mapping system.

8. Learn to locate underground secondary and primary lines.

9. Cut and remove trees, weeds and brush.

10. Participate in, and promote a safe work environment.

11. Keep informed on a continuing basis of up-to-date methods and be able to perform first aid and CPR. Learn how to perform bucket truck and pole top rescues and obtain fork lift certification when training is provided.

12. Demonstrate general knowledge of EECA operations, policies, products and services.

13. Thoroughly understand the work to be done and understand and adhere to the safety rules stated in the EECA Safety Manual.

14. Willingness to work overtime as needed.

15. Other duties as assigned.
